A shorter version, our Certificate in Midwifery Complementary Therapies is also available, with ten study days taken over one academic year. This can be delivered in your own maternity unit or university, in the UK and overseas.
Who teaches our Diploma and Certificate programmes?
Our senior tutors are all midwives with full qualifications in the therapies they teach and with experience of teaching at higher education level, who have practised their therapies in the NHS and privately for several years.

Here’s what our past students say:
The Diploma in Midwifery Complementary Therapies has been fantastic, worth every penny! I’ve been able to enhance my career, adopt the use of complementary therapies safely within the NHS, establish a specialist post-dates pregnancy clinic and secure funding for research and training through an award grant. None of this would have been possible without Expectancy’s course. Tara Pauley, midwife, Hinchinbrooke Hospital, Cambridgeshire
How does it work?
There are two introductory days and two compulsory days on professional and scientific aspects of complementary therapies. You also choose four 4-day modules from a selection:
Aromatherapy and massage in midwifery

Clinical hypnosis for childbirth
Advanced manual techniques (massage and reflexology)
Options module: post-dates pregnancy, nausea and vomiting, herbs and homeopathy, advanced hypnosis, advanced aromatherapy (choose 4 days)
